What does my donation do??? Answer: More than you can possibly imagine! We are a non-profit community theatre located in Savannah, Georgia, dedicated to bringing quality family entertainment to the Lowcountry area. We are now located in the Crossroads Shopping Centre on Victory Drive in what used to be Belk's Department Store. Throughout the year we will be transforming the store into a working, fully functional proscenium theatre with over 160 seats, as well as adding classrooms, dressing rooms, a scenic workshop and a dance studio! Your donation, no matter how small, will go towards things like building stadium seating, attaining curtains and scenic drops for shows, costumes, props, sets and a "kids only" lounge! Your donation will help to fund all of the things that go into putting on the high quality productions that audiences have come to expect from The Savannah Children's Theatre!!! Due to our safe, kid-friendly atmosphere, we have a HUGE community impact, especially for such a young company. Last year over 9,000 children from public and private schools entered our doors to attend our field trips, and many more families and educational centers have enjoyed and benefitted from our diverse programs. We have grown exponentially from where we were just two years ago, and that is all due to the support that we have gained from our surrounding community. In our effort to remain accessible to all members of the community, we rely heavily on outside donations to fund our various programs. Our funding comes from three main sources; federal grant applications, local businesses, and generous people like yourself! With the massive impact that we have in our community and now with the wonderful resource of the internet, we reach a rather large audience. If everyone that viewed our website gave even a small donation, we could afford to sponsor children who are less fortunate and cannot afford to attend or enroll in the arts. Children are our future, and no value can be assigned to their education and enrichment through the theatre arts! Although we love to get large donations we are aware that not everyone can give big financially. Please give where you can, and help your community to grow!!! How can I help??? Answer: We have a lot of areas in which you can help! You can do something as simple as rifling through your attic for old odds and ends that may be useless to you, but would add to the quality of a show by acting as a set piece or prop. These kinds of donations make for wonderful tax write-offs, too! Call or e-mail us and let us if you have any items that may be of use. There are prop lists posted on the bulletin board section of the website each time we do a show. These change frequently so check them often. There are also countless volunteer opportunities where you can do anything from help work the box office and concessions during a show, deliver fliers and posters to neighborhood centers, build, sew, paint, or help to keep us organized ! We need loads of help in any number of areas. These are just a few examples!! So come on down to The Savannah Children's Theatre and help us to inspire creativity! |
